  • Prof. A.F. Martins is the leader of the Polymeric and Mesomorphic Materials Group at the FCT/UNL. The research activity of the Group is centered in the areas of liquid crystals and polymers science and technology. It includes the development of NMR-based rheometry techniques (Rheo-NMR) for the measurement of flow and viscoelastic properties of liquid crystalline materials (mainly LC polymers and elastomers).

  • New Mexico Resonance was incorporated as a nonprofit research corporation in 1997 to use magnetic resonance to study mainly fluids, their environments, and their motion.

  • Since its inception in 1984, the HSLMC has specialised in many aspects of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) ranging from the development of the scanners themselves, optimised designs for radiofrequency probes and gradients coils and implementation of novel scan sequences.

  • Prof Lynn Gladden is the director of the Magnetic Resonance Research Centre at Cambridge. Dr Michael Johns group studies Structure-Processing Relationships. Extensive use is made of Rheo-NMR devices that simultaneously combine conventional rheological studies with Magnetic Resonance (MR) techniques to quantify material structural evolution.

He has interests in polymer physical chemistry and many aspects of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging. Areas of study include mechanisms of relaxation in polymers, mixing in polymer blends, polymers for drug delivery, gel dosimeters, degradation of polymers.
